On the morning of August 19, 2023, the "2023 Internet ASEAN International + Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao International Mediation and Arbitration Frontier Forum and Inauguration Ceremony of the 3rd China-ASEAN (Macau) Arbitration Association" was held at the Macau Science Museum. Co-hosted by the China-ASEAN (Macau) Arbitration Association, China International Mediation and Arbitration Institute (Hong Kong), China Internet Association, Guangzhou Arbitration Commission, Shenzhen Lawyers Association, and Hong Kong Mediation and Arbitration Center, the forum gathered representatives from international mediation, arbitration, and legal institutions across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Forum Highlights

The forum focused on docking mediation and arbitration case sources with international commercial mediation characteristics, signing contracts for mutual recognition of international mediation certificates, and holding the inauguration ceremony for the 3rd Board of Directors and Supervisors of the ASEAN Arbitration Association. Lawyer Su Wenjie, a lawyer from Hong An Xin Chen Joint Firm and Chairman of the "Hong Kong Mediation and Arbitration Center," attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony as a co-host representative, alongside Lawyers Tong Jianhua, Chen Peiyu, and Sun Bo.

Mutual Recognition of Mediation Certificates

China International Mediation and Arbitration Institute Co., Ltd. and the Hong Kong Mediation and Arbitration Center (represented by Lawyer Su Wenjie) signed a contract on mutual recognition of international mediation certificates. The heads of both institutions immediately implemented the agreement, awarding mutual recognition certificates to three mediators from each side. Lawyer Tong Jianhua, Lawyer Chen Peiyu, and Lawyer Sun Bo—representing the Hong Kong Mediation and Arbitration Center—became the first batch of mediators in the center to receive the "Mutually Recognized International Mediation Certificate."

Keynote Speech by Lawyer Su Wenjie

As Chairman of the "Hong Kong Mediation and Arbitration Center," Lawyer Su delivered a special speech titled "Legal Technology and Cross-border Conflict Handling." He highlighted how modern legal technologies (e.g., AI, blockchain, big data analysis) play a role in cross-border conflict resolution, particularly in applying legal technology to enterprise compliance, intelligent AI arbitration, AI approval, and other fields. He explored the impact and potential of legal technology in resolving cross-border disputes and promoting the development of the international legal system.
