More than 200 people attended the conference, including representatives from 34 municipal units, the Political and Legal Affairs Committees of each district, the Offices for Comprehensively Advancing Law-based Governance of each district, the Judicial Bureaus of each district, and the city's lawyer and notary industries. At the meeting, representatives from Guangzhou Customs, the Intermediate People's Court of Guangzhou, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangzhou Committee, the China Foreign Trade Center, Baiyun District, and Yuexiu Group delivered exchange speeches. Sixteen achievements in the construction of foreign-related rule of law in Guangzhou were released. The premiere ceremony of the special interview TV program "Greater Bay Area Lawyers Interview" (the first of its kind in the country) and the awarding ceremony of the "Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base" (a first in the province) for law firms were held. Letters of appointment were issued to the director and deputy directors of the first national Greater Bay Area Lawyers Working Committee.
With the increasingly frequent cooperation between Hong Kong and the mainland in various fields, Hong Kong legal practitioners have deepened their understanding of mainland laws and provided international legal support for mainland enterprises and institutions to "go global". Meanwhile, many innovative measures taken by the mainland in resolving foreign-related commercial disputes are also worth learning from Hong Kong. For example, the "3+N" diversified arbitration tribunal hearing rules created by the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission have effectively promoted the connection between legal services in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and extraterritorial rules, achieving the optimal allocation of legal resources. Lawyer Chen Peiyu of our joint firm is a representative of Hong Kong lawyers who have come to the mainland and then promoted the joint firm to go global.
As a Hong Kong partner of the joint firm, Lawyer Chen Peiyu founded the Chen Peiyu Law Firm in 2002. She has handled nearly 10,000 litigation and non-litigation cases, covering building sales, civil and commercial affairs, and criminal cases, with rich judicial experience. With the joint operation of Chen Peiyu Law Firm in Hong Kong and Guangdong Hong An Xin Law Firm, Lawyer Chen Peiyu has also devoted a lot of energy to carrying out business in the mainland, using her past experience to provide legal services for clients in both Guangdong and Hong Kong.
Earlier, Lawyer Chen Peiyu was interviewed by Southern Metropolis Daily and shared her experiences and insights over the past year as a representative of the first batch of Greater Bay Area lawyers. In Lawyer Chen's words, with the increasingly frequent exchanges among the three regions, the demand for cross-border cases is increasing, and cross-border legal workers in the Greater Bay Area need to further explore the integration of the legal systems of the three regions. The integration of Greater Bay Area lawyers has made it possible to enjoy the "combination package" of lawyers from both regions at a lower cost for some cases that previously required consulting lawyers from both the mainland and Hong Kong and incurring two different fees. The legal services obtained are more than three times the original, achieving the effect of 1+1>2.
